It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Angus on Nov 6, 2025.
He took his last breaths of his 16-year life peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. Left in mourning are his family members Bobbi, Tristan, Liam, and his canine sister Lucy. He was predeceased by his avian siblings Coco, Baby Faith, and Dino.
Angus came to us at the age of 2 through adoption with Westies In Need rescue organization. His earlier years were spent helping to create offspring in a puppy mill. Love-at-first-sight describes our sentiment when we met him at his foster home, the quiet ragamuffin sandwiched between 2 vocal girl Westies who met us at the door.
His early moments with us were spent learning how to play with toys, to go up and down stairs, and to bark. His nature was curious, quiet, and supremely chill. He sought out belly rubs from everyone he met. He was true to his Westie genes, liking to sit on the top of the sofa and bed pillows, tilting his head when listening, moving his most wondrous and soft ears in all dimensions, and possessing the roundest Westie derrière.
These genes were also well-expressed with his stubbornness. In Angus, the stubbornness was resolute, yet always quiet, patient, and without emotion. He has left a good example to all of us in navigating obstacles with quiet committed determination. The only times he shifted into a high gear were when he saw squirrels and neighborhood cats (and once, his bird buddy Dino, who fortunately survived).
He was a healthy boy, sometimes having a sensitive tummy which produced lovely farts. He loved to scratch his sides on the yard fence, doing laps until he alone decided he was finished. He faded into the snow while we snowshoed; a fluorescent pink collar fashioned from a yoga mat and duct tape at least allowed us to follow him while he explored in the forest. His walks were more "sniff-ari's" than exercise. He dissected with surgical precision the squeakers from his toys. We remember well the "code brown" episode that occurred while walking in Mont Royal park: Angus writhed with pleasure in a large pile of horse poop, emerging from it with a satisfied smile. Buckets, soap, and towels were awaiting his arrival home.
He loved to be on anyone's lap, being petted and loved. He always found the sun rays on the floor to bask in. We called him our "cat-dog".
We would like to thank everyone who loved him, including Jennifer, his exceptional vacation babysitter, and his kind groomers at TouTou Village.
Angus' sweet heart and spirit will live on in everyone who knew him.
